The situation in Palestine when the angels proclaimed to the shepherds that a Saviour had
been born and sang, "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace among those he
favors ", was uncertain, insecure and frightening for many who lived at that time. The
proclamation they brought was not made because of what human beings had done, but
because of what God was doing through Jesus Christ and through the cooperation of
people like Joseph and Mary.
As we continue to hope for peace and good will this coming year, we must remember that
it cannot be based solely on what human beings will do. It will only flow from our faith
in God and what God has done, is doing, and will continue to do in the world which He
loves - again through Jesus Christ and with cooperation with people like you and me all
over the world.
May your Christmas be filled with hope and blessings as you grapple with this truth !
In Christ
