Evangelist Special Offering for the month
of January is the Primate's World Relief and Development
Fund - enabling Canadian Anglicans to respond quickly to international
disasters by providing support for basic needs and to strengthen community
development leadership internationally. Partners in Mission and the P.W.R.D.F.
work together as partners responsible for the Anglican Church of Canada's
international work.
Special Offering for the month
of February is the Refuge Mobile Youth
Centre - the Mission is to care for the
needs of street level kids and share with them the love of God. The Vision
is to see that one: hurting kids come to the Refuge Bus because it is a safe
and fun place to gather and second: to see that these young people
have an opportunity to find their refuge in the Church. Refuge Mobile Youth Center, Sidney Days Parade.
Special Offering for the month of March is the Precious Jewels Ministry in Manila - Joke' Bergink, Lorrie Anderson and their team minister to families in which one or both of the parents have HIV/AIDS. The children are admitted to the Home for respite care while the mother is in hospital. Many of the children are sick emotionally and physically. Your prayers and donations are greatly appreciated.
Special Offering for the month of April is the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Chaplaincy. Chaplain Joy Hunter ministers to Saanich Peninsula Hospital patients and their families during a period when a loved one is in pain or physical or emotional difficulty. Your donations would be greatly appreciated to help Joy with this ministry. Special Offering for the month of May is for St. Saviour's Mission a safe house for women and the Rainbow kitchen project also St. John's House, supports the Sisters of St. John in our diocese Special Offering for the month of June is for Grandmothers for Grandmothers Special Offering for the month of July Young Life and Viva Our special offering for the month of July is for Young Life and for VIVA. Young Life supports youth ministry in our high schools and VIVA is a group of Victoria doctors who donate up to a year working on the island of Vanuatu in the South Pacific. See the posters at the entrance and in the hall. Victoria Vanuatu Physician Project Special Offering for the month of August is the Diocese of Yukon, and our companion parish of St. Paul, Dawson City. We remember the important work of the church in the North, through the ministries of Bishop Terry Buckell and Rev. John Tyrrell, rector of St. Paul's. This year is especially significant in Dawson as St. Paul's is celebrating one hundred years of service and ministry to its community. Special Offering for the month of October Anglican Appeal This is the month when we celebrate our connection with our Anglican family in Canada's North and with our partner churches overseas. Your gift helps Council of the North dioceses struggling to provide ministry in remote parts of Canada. Our church reaches out in partnership to our global Anglican family, giving dedicated theological students the chance to become strong community leaders. Through Volunteers in Mission, people from all walks of Canadian life volunteer their time and talents in ways that change lives -- especially their own. The Anglican Appeal also supports our overseas partner Diocese of Myanmar with aid for communication, education, prayer and support. Special Offering for the month of November is the Local Food Bank. Throughout the year, the Food Bank supplies family units over a tri-weekly basis. Food stuffs are made up into boxes & bags and distributed Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays by a team of Volunteers from the Community. Donations may be dropped off between the hours of 9:30 am and Noon on distribution days. Money donated to the Food Bank is used to purchase items that have not been donated. There is an ongoing need in Sidney and surrounding areas for donations both of food and cash. Your donation may be added to your weekly envelope earmarked "Food Bank". Thanks for your year round support. Special Offering for the month of December is the Street Ministry . We pray for God's presence and protection for those who are , by what ever circumstance alone, destitute and on the streets. We ask for strength and wisdom for those who work with the homeless and minister to them in Christ's name. Let us look within our own hearts and lives in thanksgiving for what we have and let us willingly share with those who have not. Lord Jesus, please hold before us the mission of the Street Ministry.
