Behold my Big Toe.

I first broke it in a soccer game in the 60's. I nailed it again in the 90's when a vice fell on it. Sometime inbetween, a terrible itch arose. It was not Athelete's Toe. The itch at times was quite unbearable which led to some strange
and bizarre scratching.
Sometimes, the itch would just disappear, only to re-appear hours or days later. It did not diminish and fade away. It was either on in varying intensities or it was off. No medications;
no lotions would bring relief.

TOOLS TO SCRATCH A REALLY BIG itch

(ANTI-CLOCKWISE FROM 4:30. RATED FROM 1 TO 10.)

Early in 1995, after several days with the itch, I awoke with a calm; quiet; subdued Big Toe. What is different? I thought to myself. When I saw the headline in the morning paper, I jokingly concluded that my Big Toe had been warning me of the 7.2 EQ at Kobe, Japan the day before, on Jan.17,'95. Three days later, the scenario repeated

with a 6.5 EQ in Colombia.

I theorized that my toe is somehow bio-mechanically attuned to the geo-magnetic phenomenon associated with faultlines. As the stress builds within the earth, the magnetic forces increase and so does the itch. When the stress is relieved by an EQ,

the itch stops. Honest!

I told some friends and we had some laughs: Ninjas sneaking into my room at night to steal my toenail clippings to clone a toe for the TEMPLE OF THE TOE...etc etc.

I began to document my itch in the hopes of cross-referencing it with reports of EQs. At that time, my only source was TV and the Newspaper which are not comprehensive enough. An EQ must be big or destructive or local to get any kind of detailed reporting.

One problem was the great number of on and off periods some days and the lack of breaks of several days which I recalled from prior times. I began to doubt my theory. I gave up documenting. I stopped noticing -as much as possible. Most of the time

I could ignore it, but not when trying to sleep.

Then I got a computer and started surfing. I decided to make a web page about my toe. Then it hit me: there is probably EQ information on the net. I eventually stumbled onto an EARTHQUAKE RESOURCE where I check the latest EQ reports nightly.

Here is a link to the fascinating CHARLOT KING who hears and feels

the earth in upheval: Volcanoes and EQs.

Recently my Big Toe was acting up a lot.
After ignoring it most of the day,
I would really notice the itch at bedtime.

BIG TOE ACTING UP

WARNING EARTHQUAKE WARNING EARTHQUAKE WARNING

On the night of June 9, '96, the itch was noticably absent. I bet I see an EQ report in the morning paper, I thought to myself. Sure enough, a 7.7 EQ in Alaska was reported.

What they didn't report (which I discovered on the net) was that there were over 60

EQs that day. Two were over 7 with the majority over 4 and under 6.

For several days my Big Toe was virtually itch-free! The EQs in Alaska were continuing daily in the magnitude 5 range, I guess the geo-magnetic forces were not building up

enough to affect my Big Toe.

So, what body part of yours has the itch?
(PS -Detatch wire wheel from drill, before scratching!)

UPDATE Jun 23 '96 Alaskan EQs have diminished in size -my Big Toe has resumed the itch.
UPDATE Aug 10 '96 Sunburned my feet on holiday -forgot all about the itch for awhile.
UPDATE Oct 04 '96 Everytime that my Big Toe itches wildly, there is a big EQ, ergo my Big Toe causes EQs.
UPDATE Oct 05 '96 Cancel last. There will always be EQs; my Big Toe will always itch.
UPDATE Mar 16 '97 New BG color & crude animation. Coming soon, Big Toe is itching for bigger things.
