Anatomical wax models, excellent high definition photographs, a view of anatomy as it was known in 1771 when the wax models were produced.

HUMAN OSTEOLOGY, text Tim White, photographs Pieter A. Folkens, Academic Press 1991.
Forensic osteology documentation text and photographs to be used as a resources for definitions of human bone structure and related knowledge.

ARTISTIC ANATOMY by Dr. Paul Richer, translated and edited by Robert Beverly Hale, Watson-Guptill 1971.
Probably the best human anatomy book I've seen. I was able to model a 1:25 scale human scull by taking caliper measurements from the illustrations. Front, side and top views are all to scale.

MODELING AND SCULPTING THE HUMAN FIGURE, by Edouard Lanteri, Dover Pub. 1985
I learned enough from this book to be able to produce portrait medals from scratch in the manner of the Italian Renaissance.

Another in-depth book about sculpture from nature, with heavy emphasis on anatomy.

Sculpture

THE TREATISES OF BENVENUTO CELLINI ON GOLDSMITHING AND SCULPTURE, translated from the Italian by C.R.Ashree, Dover 1967. An interesting and entertaining translation from the writings of Cellini.

SCULPTURE INSIDE AND OUT, by Malvina Hoffman Bonanza Books New York 1939.
An older book that touches on many sculpture techniques. A good overview regarding plaster and clay techniques and some discussion about bronze sculpture.

SCULPTURE Tools, Materials and Techniques - Second Edition, by Wilbert Verhelst, Prentice-Hall 1988
A well illustrated and written 275 page book about many types of sculpture including fountains. Metal work including bronze casting - ceramic shell, sand, plaster investment and metal buffing.

Casting

PLASTER MOLD AND MODEL MAKING, by Chaney and Skee, Prentice Hall Press, 1986.
Plaster mold making for small ceramic projects. The illustrations and text tell-it-all if you are interested in making multiple piece plaster molds. This is the method used for centuries before the invention of rubber molding materials. It is still the cheapest and least toxic method of making duplicate wax models for lost wax casting.

A paperback book written for the small foundry enthusiast, mostly about sand mold casting techniques.

Written primarily for jewelry, the principles apply well to all smaller metal casting projects including: lost wax investment casting, wax modeling, rubber molds and more. 118 pages

A technical book,written for the layman - extremely useful metal casting information

LOST WAX BRONZE CASTING, A Photographic essay, by Harry Jackson, Van Nostrand Reinhold.
The book illustrates casting a bronze horse and rider in the lost wax technique. Many photographs and excellent captions with each illustration - bronze from start to finish.

Articles and illustrations are top quality, Tage Frid does indeed teach woodworking.
